A SKY-DIVING foursome will be hoping the weather doesn't thwart them for a second time when they attempt a charity parachute jump.

Mother and daughter Mirka and Sophie Anderson, together with Sophie's boyfriend, Ashley Penn, and his sister, Lisa, will be plummeting 10,000feet to raise cash for Great Ormond Street hospital.

Sophie, 19, of Old North Road, Royston, said: "We were hoping to jump on April 14, but due to unsuitable weather, this has now been moved to May 2.

"We are raising money for Great Ormond street as all four of us know someone whose life has been saved by the hospital," she said.

In Sophie's case this is her sister, Emma, who had an eight-hour heart operation at the hospital 25 years ago to correct a heart defect she was born with.

Emma, who has Downs Syndrome, survived thanks to the care and attention of the hospital's staff, and this has inspired the sky-dive.

"Near to the 25th anniversary of Emma's operation, we would like to thank the hospital with the money raised from this event. She has grown up to be an amazing individual," said Sophie.

Sophie, Mirka, 58, Ashley, 22, and Lisa, 27, spent Easter Monday raising cash at Morrisons in Cambourne, They have already smashed through their initial cash target of £1,500, and are now aiming to make £2,000 for the London hospital.

Sophie added: "All of us are increasingly apprehensive, as it is our first jump, However we think it will be an amazing experience, once we can look back on it after we have landed safely."
