Schoolchildren from Royston travelled to the USA to put their innovation skills to the test at the annual IET FIRST LEGO League World Festival.

Team B6 Berrellium, made up of Oscar Berry, 15, and his 12-year-old sister Iona, and their friends – Cambridge siblings, Albert and Quim 15, Joan 13, and 11-year-old Lluis Borrel – joined two other UK teams at the St Louis, Missouri event for 15,000 children.

They came second in the Strategy & Innovation Robot Design Award.

IET education manager Mandy Workman said: “All three teams excelled at the FIRST LEGO League World Festival. They were superb ambassadors for their schools.

“It was a high-energy event which provided unforgettable experiences for all the budding engineers and allowed them to make new friends from all around the world.”
