Families turned out to Shepreth Wildlife Park on Saturday to celebrate a special birthday and raise money for a tiger welfare charity.

Amba the tiger enjoyed the presents which were placed around her enclosure by volunteers to mark her 20th birthday.

In conjunction with this, Tiger Day proceeds were donated to the Tiger Protection and Conservation Unit in Sumatra.

The park raised £1,300, which will go towards the protection of tigers in the Kerinci-Seblat National Park.

The park stated on its Facebook page: “We have donated over £267,000 to global conservation so far and it’s thanks to your support and visits. Thank you to everyone who is involved in our work. And of course a big happy 20th birthday to Amba.”

Welfare organisation For Tigers also organised a fancy dress sponsored walk from Cambridge town centre to the Shrepreth park. For Tigers works to improve the welfare of captive tigers in Thailand.
