ANN Ritzmah's display became the outstanding exhibit at the Orwell Show.

But it could have been so different.

Her superb example of a phaleonopsis orchid lost a stem holding nine blooms just before the show.

But undeterred she displayed the exhibit - and walked away with the prize.

The horticulture show was just part of the activities taking place on the recreation ground.

In the arena visitors were able to see displays of vintage tractors.

But a display of heavy horses from Wimpole had to be cancelled because of foot and mouth restrictions.
