Praise for debate teams who took part in Rotary contest
Determined debaters from North Herts middle schools gathered at Royston’s Greneway Middle School for an annual challenge which put their public speaking skills to the test.
The annual Royston Rotary Club Youth Speaks event saw talented speakers from the town’s Greneway and Roysia schools and Buntingford’s Edwinstree Middle School show off their public speaking prowess.
A keen audience of parents and staff enjoyed presentations on topics which ranged from horse riding to basketball, and from Shelock Holmes to cupcakes.
The judges offered helpful feedback throughout, and were very complimentary to Greneway’s Maya Warburton, Alfie Pocock and James Price for their detailed basketball presentation.
Later teams were able to take advantage of some of the judges’ advice and the last group, Greneway’s Madeleine Dunn and Sophie Bateman, were able to feel even more confident when giving their entertaining and informative talk all about dogs, which was accompanied by pictures.
All pupils from Roysia, Edwinstree and Greneway had clearly worked very hard on their presentations and devoted many hours to making them perfect, which bodes very well for Youth Speaks 2015.
