Wood Green Animal Shelters have become “full to the brim” with rabbits, and are now appealing for pet lover to come forward and take them in.

The Heydon-based charity, which re-homes rabbits and other pets, is currently keeping 40 rabbits in its bunnery, with a further 65 on the waiting list.

Deputy manager of small animal welfare, Marie Channer said: “We are reaching crisis point. Our bunnery is full to the brim and we are being forced to turn away rabbits who desperately need to come into the Shelter to be rehomed.”

“But unless we find loving homes for the 42 rabbits already in our care, we are going to have to continue to turn people away.

Mrs Channer said that rabbits make “wonderful pets,” and confirmed that they had all been neutered, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped.

“We ask for 20 for each rabbit and we will provide new owners with all the information they will require to care for their rabbits,” she said.
