There was plenty to see and do at Sandon’s Shakespeare-themed village fete, which raised an amazing £3,600 to go towards repairing the floor of All Saints’ Church.
In the sunshine, villagers and vistors entered the spirit of the day with activities including dressing up, a Shakespeare quiz, and guessing the weight of poor Yorick. There were also traditional fete attractions, and music from Sandon JMI School pupils playing ukuleles.
Guests were fed and watered from the barbecue and bar and with plenty of scrumptious homemade cakes and cream teas.
The church was decorated with stunning flower displays of well known plays – Midsummer Night’s Dream, Othello, Hamlet, Falstaff and Romeo and Juliet.
Organiser Gay Ayton said: “It was a fabulous, fun, social day and we’d like to thank everyone who came and helped make it such a successful event, including the Knights Templar jazz band who gave up their Saturday afternoon to visit.”
