SAINT MARY'S church in Ashwell unveiled its newly refurbished south aisle at a dedication service on Sunday.

Restoration of the south aisle at the church has cost £145,000, and has seen the windows in the church cleaned and repaired, and a new stained-glass window installed.

A spokesman for St Mary's said: "The new memorial window was designed in Cambridge by Lida Kindersley, and made in Ashwell by local man David Wyman.

"It's dedicated to the Fordham family, who have provided part of the funding for the restoration. We've also raised cash at events at the church, such as the book weekend and Ashwell flea market."

Several members of the Fordham family were in attendance at the dedication, which was carried out by family member Rev Teddy Faure Walker.
