SCHOOLS in Royston are going green and keeping their accounts in the black thanks to the Yellow Pages. The Yellow Woods Challenge is a competition run by the Yellow Pages for schools to collect as many old telephone directories as they can. The winning school will be awarded hundreds of pounds in cash prizes and matching sums will be donated to the conservation charity, the Woodland Trust. Cllr Bill Davidson, North Herts District Council's portfolio holder for waste and environment, said: "We hope schools will really get the recycling bug and, with the help of the community, beat last year's total of 2,560 directories." The challenge begins on March 18 and will run until June. Schools already participating are Roman Way First and Roysia Middle School.
