PROBLEMS with the environment have been addressed in a play at a Royston school.

Year two pupils at St Mary's primary school performed "Eddie the Penguin saves the world" to an audience of over 50 visitors, including parents and local MP Oliver Heald.

The children had been rehearsing the play for three weeks.

Class teacher Louise Moore said: "Year two have worked really hard over the last few weeks, they learnt the script and songs, as well as making the actions for the songs and the props.

"I feel that it is a fantastic way for the pupils to learn about their world today. The play allowed us tor research about everything from polar bears to pollution, as well as completing traffic surveys and learning to tap dance like Mumble the penguin.

"I am so proud of the children, they were brilliant and definitely passed the message on to everyone in a very powerful and exciting way," she said.
