ROYSIA School in Royston has recorded its best participation in the UK Junior Maths Challenge.
Some 52 Year 7 and Year 8 pupils joined more than 240,000 children from more than 3,600 schools across the UK, for the challenge that took place in April.
Of those who took part, 24 Roysia pupils received an award - six gold, 10 silver and eight bronze.
On top of that, pupils Conor Ackland, Daniel Bird, Edward Jones and Matthew McCreadie scored highly enough to be put forward for a further two-hour Junior Maths Olympiad paper.
Only the top 2 per cent of entrants were invited to do this.
Maths co-ordinator Terry Tuffnell said: "The school has entered the maths challenge before, but this is certainly our best year. To have four students take the Olympiad paper is a great achievement.
"We have some extremely able students and the school is very proud.
