ROMAN WAY School in Royston has gained basic skills accreditation for a second time.

Head teacher Susan Summerhayes said: "This is a national accreditation given to schools who are involved with all aspects of children's progression, both in and out of school.

"This is the second time we have been recognised, so it is a great boost for everyone," she said.

To qualify, the school had to produce a dossier of its policies, showing how it liaised effectively with the other people involved in their pupils lives.

It was also visited by a government inspector.

Mrs Summerhayes added: "At our recent Ofsted inspection it was noted how well our school got involved with the community, and this accreditation reflects this.
