SCHOOL children and town councillors banded together to tidy up Royston this week.

The pupils from Tannery Drift School joined members of the Royston in Bloom team, including town councillors Rod Kennedy and Lindsay Davidson, to clear litter from the area around their school.

A spokesman for the Royston in Bloom team said: "All local schools, together with our Royston community as a whole, are being encouraged to keep their local environment tidy and clear of litter in the run up to the very popular annual Royston in Bloom competition which takes place each summer.

"The children all worked very hard and were rewarded with stickers and sweets as a big thank-you for their efforts."

This year's Royston in Bloom competition will be launched with the annual Blooms night next month. Details will be published in The Crow in the coming weeks.
