A TEENAGER is getting ready to rock the judges after she made it through to the second round of a national music competition.

Sarah Louise, 15, from Meldreth, gained her place in the Live and Unsigned competition regional finals after she sailed through the auditioning stage in Bedford last month.

Singer songwriter Sarah said: “I am buzzing, it means everything to me, to have an opportunity like this so young is a privilege.

“I have been writing and performing with my acoustic guitar for just over a year, but I’ve been singing all my life.”

The Melbourn Village College student has been practising for the competition by busking in Cambridge city centre while on half-term, and is hoping being in the next stage can help her fulfil her big ambitions.

“My ambition is to become a successful artist and to inspire other people with my music. I can’t wait to get out on to a big stage,” she said.

“My music is a mix of country, folk, and pop. Taylor Swift is a major inspiration for me.

“I’m really looking forward to it and am hoping it’s just the first step in a long musical career.”

Sarah’s regional finals, which are one of 17 nationally, will be held at Bedford Corn Exchange on Saturday, April 2.

She will battle it out against 59 other bands and artists in front of a panel of judges from the BBC, NME, and Kerrang, to make it through to one of six area finals.

The final is to be held at London’s O2 Arena in front of a 2,500 crowd and a prestigious judging panel.

World and UK tours as well as single releases are on offer for the finalists.
