The family of a Sandon pilot whose jet crashed into a busy road during an airshow in Sussex have expressed their condolences for lives lost in Saturday’s tragedy.

Andy Hill, who regularly took part in Imperial War Museum Duxford airshows, is currently in a medical induced coma after his Hawker Hunter jet plunged into the A27, killing multiple drivers on the road.

The family said: “Following the tragic events at the Shoreham Air Show on Saturday, we are devastated and deeply saddened for the loss of life, and send our prayers and heartfelt condolences to the families of all those affected at this difficult time.”

Mr Hill remains in a critical condition, he has multiple injuries and is in a medically induced coma.

His family would also like to pay tribute to the emergency services for their highly professional response following the accident and to the medical team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital for the care they are continuing to provide.
