Freak weather caused Royston to be coated in a layer of Saharan sand on Monday.
A combination of strong winds and dust storms in North Africa meant many places in the south of England were coated in the desert dust.
Photographer David Hatton captured a shot of the sand on his car outside his home in Echo Hill, Royston.
He said: “The dust is best seen on polished surfaces - so the black paintwork of our car was ideal. The picture shows the thousands of particles on the bonnet around the windscreen washer jet - I guess the particles are too fine to cause any damage - but it may be best to wash them off first before any Sunday afternoon elbow grease is applied!”
More dust storms are forecast for the end of the week.
