MEMBERS of the Royston Runners have handed over a cheque for £1,000 to the British Heart Foundation.
The money was raised from the club's long-short relay, which is run over 40 miles around Royston.
Club member Sean Allen presented the cheque to Michael Baim, from the charity.
The race was inaugurated in 1997 to commemorate the life of Clive Long, a club founder member who died of a heart attack at the age of 54 in 1996.
Originally, the race was run from Pinner to Royston, but for the past two years it has taken place around Royston and the surrounding area.
In those two years the race has only been open to members, but the success of the event has convinced the organising committee to open up the race to other clubs.
