A six-foot tall run-away bird which can sprint at speeds of up to 40mph has been spotted in Crow country.
The South American rhea, named Rita, escaped from her owner’s home near Brent Pelham almost a month ago.
After several sightings in the Anstey area, she has now been seen at Barkway Park Golf course.
The RSPCA is advising people to keep their distance from the flightless bird.
A spokesman said: “Rheas are large birds and have the potential to be dangerous as they are strong, fast and have sharp claws.
“Our advice to the general public is keep well away and call us or the police on 101 if they see the bird.”
