Youngsters have had the opportunity to learn life skills during a weekend spent trying outdoor activities.
The 13 cubs from the 1st Orwell Scout Group completed a range of activities including canoeing and climbing when they attended a two-day camp at the Gilwell Park Scout Activity Centre on the edge of Epping Forest.
They also took part in team building crate stacking exercise where they had to work together to stack the crates a high as possible.
Group leader Chris Grandy said: “It was fantastic and the kids really enjoyed it, hopefully learning some life skills along the way.
“A lot of them hadn’t been away before so it was a new experience for them but they all seemed to make the most of it and just have fun. We were lucky with the weather apart from when we arrived – putting up tents in the rain is never fun.”
The group’s next activity is a golf fun day at Whaddon Golf Club on Saturday, August 23. A nine-hole round of golf and a burger or hotdog costs £10 per person. The event runs from 10am to 5pm – for more information email malcolm.croxford@ntlworld.com.
