Royston has been twinned with Grossalmerode, in Germany, for 40 years, and also has links with La Loupe in France and Villanueva de la Canada in Spain.

Keith Ginsburg, from the twinning association, said: “We are trying to put together a list of names of anyone who was involved in the first twinning visits. We would be grateful to hear from anyone with memories, photos or souvenirs of those early days of twinning that the association could borrow or use.”

Places are available on the association’s upcoming visit to La Loupe from Thursday, May 22-Monday, May 26, while residents from Grossalmerode will be coming to England later in the year.

The twinning association’s annual quiz has also been arranged, and will be held on Saturday, March 1 at the Market Hill Rooms. Teams of up to eight are welcome to take part, and tickets are £6 per person. For further details contact Sally Jones on 01763 231433, or email sally@sallad.co.uk.
