The birth of Prince George has been commemorated with the planting of a tree in Royston.

An oak tree with an engraved commemorative plaque was unveiled in Priory Memorial Gardens, Royston, yesterday (Tuesday) to mark the birth of the prince, who was born last year and is third in line to the throne.

It has been planted by North Herts District Council, along with several others around the district.

Cllr Jane Gray, leader of the district council, said: “The birth of the Royal baby was such an uplifting moment for the UK and we are thrilled to be able to pay our own special tribute in North Herts. The trees and plaques are being displayed in some of North Herts most popular parks and communal areas so that the whole community can celebrate this special Royal occasion.”
