An Indian takeaway in Royston has ramped up its support of the town’s ladies’ football team by becoming its sole kit sponsor.

Royston Tandoori, which began sponsoring Royston Town Ladies FC’s training kit back in 2015, provided a new home kit for the first team last year – and this year has laid on new home and away kits for both the first team and the development squad.

Royston Tandoori owner Safwaan Choudhury said: “When I took over in 2015, I set out to contribute to the community – which we have done through various ways in charities, schools and clubs.

“Specifically, the logic behind supporting the ladies’ team is that many of the players and management are regular customers of ours at the restaurant, who have supported my team year on year.

“The whole football club have been very supportive of us, so it seems only right to support back.”
