Royston’s much-anticipated new splash park is still on track to be opened by the end of this month, the district council has confirmed.
The splash park, in Priory Memorial Gardens, will include features such as interactive water jets, a may pole and a play stream for younger children.
Councillor Jane Gray, responsible for leisure at North Herts District Council, said: “The new main power has been connected, our contractors are putting the final touches to the decorative finish around the outside and we are just waiting for an electric meter to be installed.
“Once this is done we will then be carrying out a series of maintenance and testing regimes to ensure the splash park and its interactive jets are fully operational.
“If all goes well, we are still aiming to open at the end of May.”
The council held an extensive consultation with the Royston community last year to establish the type of facilities that the public wanted to see as part of the development.
Royston will join other towns in North Herts – Baldock, Letchworth and Hitchin in having one of the exciting splash parks.
