A Royston scout has been recognised with the movement’s highest accolade – The Queen’s Scout Award.
James Truett, 19, a member of the 7th Royston Scout Group, received the award after completing a series of challenges including a trip to Nepal, where he worked on community projects in rural areas and helped teach English.
He is the first scout from Royston to obtain the award for 15 years.
James attended a ceremony at Windsor Castle last month with 400 other scouts from around the country, where he met HRH the Duke of Kent and chief scout, TV explorer Bear Grylls.
He said: “It was a fantastic experience and one I will share with my group, in the hope of inspiring others to aim high.”
