Jessica Wallington had the charity chop at Bassingbourn salon Hair By Natalie so her locks could be donated to the Little Princess Trust, and to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

She chose GOSH as her friend Cerys is receiving treatment at the hospital for hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a birth defect which affects blood flow through the heart.

Jessica said: “I really enjoyed doing lots of things with my hair and particularly having it down, even when my mummy and daddy insist I tie it up! But now that I realise that there are many sick children who have no hair, I have decided to give mine to them.

“Thank you to everyone who has donated money for my causes and to Hair By Natalie for their help. I am really pleased about my new haircut!”

Jessica hoped to raise £200. but has now raised more than £1,000. If you want to add to her total go to justgiving.com/jessicawallington.
