After an early morning start from Royston, the group of Year 8 students from Greneway Middle School had a smooth crossing across the channel on their journey to Grandcamp Maisey in Normandy.
During the week, pupils have visited the Bayeux Tapestry, the American War Cemetery, Omaha Beach and other Second World War related sites. A highlight has also been trying out their French in the the local markets and cafes.
Back home, another group of Year 8s went on a day trip to Clacton and Walton-on-the-Naze. As well as carrying out observations related to tides and the seashore, the Year 8s found time to enjoy an ice cream and visit the pier.
