A series of cracking activities coming up at Royston’s district museum are sure to make the Easter holidays eggcellent for your youngsters.

For children aged four to 10, the museum is kicking off the holidays with a free family crafty morning on Saturday.

Museum assistant Amy Judd said: “We’ll be making bunny bunting for you take away and decorate your home with.

“We’ll also be creating some amazing Easter bonnets to rival these ones made in 1988 by pupils at Greneway School. They’re wonderful creations were showcased in the Crow exactly 30 years before our own Easter bonnet event on March 31, 1988.”

The following week, on Wednesday April 4, youngsters are invited to get lost in a story with Alice in Wonderland. The museum is welcoming back Alex Jones who gave a “brilliant” telling of Room on a Broom when she was last at the museum. This time, you can join in on an adventure with Alice. There’ll be a trail around the museum too.

Get your history hats on for a Victorian crafty morning on Saturday, April 7. There’ll be plenty of Victorian crafts and some dressing up too. The museum was built during Victorian times and so they’re taking it back to a time it knows well.

On Wednesday, April 11, it’s all about celebrating spring.

Amy said: “We’ll be making some beautiful spring flowers – the best thing is they’ll be made from paper so you won’t have to worry about watering them.

“And we’ll be making the cute spring animals we see at this time of year including lambs, and also those who start to make an appearance including snakes and lizards.”

Craft events and story-telling run from 10.30am to 12pm and cost £3 per child. Adults and under 3s are free. You don’t need to book, just turn up on the day.

For younger children, there’s a sing-a-long with Play Music Play’s Linda Bance. This is free for everyone on Saturday, April 14 and is on from 10.30am to 11.30am.

And for adults and families with older children, they’re once again hosting a felt making session. Led by Abigail Thomas of Felt Meets Cloth on Thursday, April 5. At the end of the session, you’ll have your own sample of felt to take away and you’ll have learnt a wonderful traditional skill. You’ll need to book for this one and it costs £5 per person and is on from 10.30am to 12pm.
