A HOST of parties joined together to hold a reassuring event in Royston.
Market Place turned into a hive of activity when the North Herts Community Reassurance Event came to town.
Among the organisations involved were North Herts District Council (NHDC), Herts Fire and Rescue Service, Herts Police, Herts County Council Trading Standards and North Hertfordshire Homes.
The event was held to offer people advice on how to improve their safety both in and outside their homes.
Police offered advice on staying safe, and offered to mark personal belongings such as bikes, laptops and mobile phones.
Royston’s Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team were also on hand to talk crime prevention.
As well as that, the fire service provided demonstrations on how to safely extinguish chip fan fires.
While parents were discussing safety tips with the experts, Play Rangers were also on hand to entertain youngsters.
Cllr Tricia Cowley, NHDC portfolio holder for community engagement, said: “We had such a wonderful response.
“People of all ages came along and took part and helped make the event a real success. Residents deserve to feel safe and secure in their environment and the community reassurance events offer information on how that can be achieved.”
