Royston prepares to unveil more secrets

THE organiser of Royston Hidden Secrets this week celebrated the success of last year's event, and claimed this summer's bash will be the "talking point of the summer."
Linda Turner, a local interior designer, first arranged the charity-friendly Royston Hidden Secrets in 2009 to showcase some of the area’s lesser-known businesses and clubs.
On Tuesday of this week, along with town mayor Cllr Martin Beaver and Toby Snowden of the Heath Sports Club, she presented last year’s money raised – a cheque for £942.30 to Marie Curie Cancer Care – and said planning has already begun for 2011.
“It’s going to be the talking point of the summer, so I would urge people to make sure they put the date in their diaries,” she said.
“We are keen to once again show off what hidden surprises Royston has to offer. Many groups are to come together to reveal the amazing talents of our remarkable town.
“There’ll be fun and games, food and drink, arts and crafts as well as local businesses and community groups, all showing visitors what they may not have realised is right on their doorstep.”
The first exhibition in 2009 was held at the Banyers Hotel but after interest increased for 2010, Royston Heath Sports Club offered to erect two marquees where over 50 businesses were housed.
The Heath will again be the venue for this year’s event, which will be held on Sunday June 12 between 11am and 4pm.
North Royston Action Group, the organisers of the Royston Community Exhibition, which debuted last year, are to combine with Mrs Turner to attract even more businesses than usual.
Mrs Turner said: “Visitors will be able to discover and enjoy a feast of family entertainment and information about Royston, with more attractions in one place than any other event in recent history.
“And it will all be provided by people living or working in this area.”
