The clinking of stein glasses and sound of Bavarian music echoing through the marquee showed a superb time was had by all at this year’s Royston Oktoberfest.

A crowd of more than 250 revellers danced the night away at the event hosted by Royston Round Table and The Heath Bar.

Guests could be forgiven for thinking they had walked into an authentic Munich Kneipe, with traditionally dressed barmaids, German fun, food and entertainment and, of course, authentic Bavarian beer.

Royston Round Table’s Mark Parish said: “The evening was a tremendous success, Royston Round Table is proud to be associated with an event which brings the people of Royston together.

“Fundraising events like this, and the continued support of local businesses like The Heath Bar, are fundamental to the continued success of organisations like Round Table – and we are grateful for all the hard work that everyone put in.”

The irrepressible Eric von Winkler and his oompah band provided the music, and the crowd enjoyed yodelling, dancing the polka and singing along to traditional music.

There was a prize for the best dressed Bavarian, and the beer was served in the traditional Bavarian manner – in one litre steins.

Toby Snowdon of The Heath Bar said: “This is the third Oktoberfest we have run in the last four years, and it was great to see so many people traditionally dressed, dancing, singing and letting their hair down.”

Royston Round Table is currently recruiting new members to help plan next year’s event. If you interested in getting involved for 2016, please contact Mark by emailing him via media@roystonroundtable.co.uk.
