MP Sir Oliver Heald has expressed his concern over drug dealing in the town after a cannabis factory was found in a Royston home just a week after a drug dealer was jailed in a separate incident.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis after about 200 plants were found at an address in Wordsworth Close on Friday morning.
Police were first called to the scene at about 2.40am following reports of a possible burglary.
But when officers arrived, several people ran from the area.
After they gained entry to the address the suspected factory was discovered.
Sir Oliver said: “We need to protect young people in Royston from drug abuse. Drugs ruin lives and spark mental illness.
“It is an important priority for me and I welcome firm police action and am glad that the police are continuing to treat drug misuse so seriously. Their emphasis on this is right.”
The men arrested were a 24-year-old from London and a 28-year-old of no fixed address. Both men have been released on police bail until December 17.

Earlier this month, Gary Fielding, 44, of Mill Road was sentenced to three years in jail after being found guilty of possessing Class A and B drugs with intent to supply. Cannabis and cocaine worth £5,000, together with drugs paraphernalia including weighing scales, were found during a raid of his home.
