Paula Smith will be running the London Marathon

A staff member at Royston’s Meridian School is just days away from her London Marathon race and will be running to raise vital funds in solidarity with a supporter of Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

Paula Smith won the place from her running club, Royston Runners, and adopted their chosen charity – Team Ev!

Team Ev! began raising money for the staff in Ward C2 at Addenbrooke’sHospital to say thanks for their help in caring for Evan Rees-Humphreys, after the 13-year-old was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in 2010.

Paula said: “Evan and his fundraising team have a goal to raise £15,000 to support the work of the specialist cancer units that have helped him.

“He is an amazing young man who has proven to be an inspiration to all of us, always smiling and always positive.

“My very first marathon was 10 years ago and to run it for such a local worthy cause makes it even more special.

“I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to run for Team Ev on Sunday!”

Evan will be cheering Paula on from home with his mum and dog Dilly.

Donations are welcome and would be a boost for the team, who have almost reached their fundraising target. Search for ‘Team Ev!’ and Adddenbrooke’s Charitable Trust to donate.
