The owner of an Indian takeaway in Royston has said the support from the community has been “astonishing” after the business was shortlisted in the British Curry Awards.
Safwaan Choudhury runs Royston Tandoori in George Lane, which came runner-up in the ‘best takeaway’ category for the second consecutive year.
He said: “It has always been a childhood dream to be featured on the British Curry Awards shortlist. I cannot explain how it feels to be runners-up, simply beyond a dream!
“The support we’ve received from the local people has been astonishing – the hundreds of nominations, messages of support, continued custom and constructive feedback has kept us motivated and excited to improve and strive for the top award.
“I am extremely grateful and proud of our team, who all work relentlessly hard and are the driving force behind what is now renowned as the very best Indian cuisine in Hertfordshire, if not East Anglia!”
