A Royston firm is delighted to have joined a programme offering primary and middle schools an on-site workshop and learning resources for nine to 11-year-old children.

Sartorius Stedim Biotech in Royston is only the second company in the south of England to join the Children Challenging Industry programme.

The programme supports teaching of the science curriculum, while improving children’s perceptions of science-based manufacturing, and its relationship with science, technology, engineering and mathematics based careers.

It provides classroom-based development for one Year 5/6 teacher, plus their class. This includes a site visit to Sartorius Stedim Biotech in Royston where children will receive a hands-on experience of computer aided design, assembling parts for use in manufacturing and testing components, showing them how science can be used within an industrial context.
