A FIREFIGHTER has been recognised for 20 years of service.
Haydn James, who is based at Royston fire station in Baldock Street, picked up a long service award from Dave Harold, district commissioner for Stevenage and North Herts.
Royston station commander Sean Comerford said: "Firefighter James is one of the longest serving members of the Royston crews and it is a proud moment for him and his family to see his service recognised by this award."
Mr Harold added: "Recognising more than 20 years service to the community of Hertfordshire by presenting this medal to one of our personnel is one of the nicer parts of the job.
"Firefighters provide a vital service to local communities and we never know what the next call might bring.
