Two people who have made big contributions to the drama scene in Royston over the last 12 months have been honoured with awards.

Corvus Amateur Drama Society (CADS) presented its annual awards last month, with Wendy Watts taking the Fred Sillence award for outstanding contribution to the performing arts, and Alex Crockford picking up the Lizzie Houghton award for outstanding contribution to youth drama.

A long-standing CADS committee member, Wendy was recognised for the extraordinary amount of work she put into this year’s Royston pantomime on top of her other duties. She takes the Fred Sillence award, named after the former Crow editor who was a CADS stalwart.

Alex took to the stage inside a giant plant costume for CADS production of Little Shop of Horrors, but judges also praised him for his behind-the-scenes work, which included the role of Deputy Stage Manager for the pantomime.
