Royston & District museum and No.3 Royston craft shop have teamed up to urge yarn-crafters to grab their needles and get outside to celebrate the largest knitter-run event in the world.

Worldwide Knit in Public Day 2017 on Saturday, June 10 is set to bring together knitters from across the globe .

Museum assistant Amy Judd said: “We want to celebrate the joy that knitting, crochet and any other yarn craft can give and we’d love to meet as many creative people as possible.

“Whether you’re a seasoned yarn crafter with hundreds of projects under your belt or you would like to learn, come along! You’ll not meet a friendlier bunch than a bunch of knitters.”

There will be a stash swap box for people to bring along any yarns or knitting equipment they no longer want or need.Tthe museum is also raising money for the Royston and South Cambs branch of Home-Start so when you give a donation to the cause which supports families in crisis, you get to take something from the stash swap box.

“It’s a perfect time to give unloved yarns a new home and support young children and their families,” Amy said.

“We want people to show off their knits too! Bring along finished projects to help inspire others. We are brightening up our courtyard and would love to get your donations of bunting towards this. Head to the museum for a pattern for knitted bunting or bring along your own piece.
