DANCERS from a Royston performing arts centre came away with a haul of medals at a regional competition.

The team from Stage Right Studios won 14 gold, 11 silver, and five bronze medals at the Huntingdon Dance Festival at the weekend.

In the individual competitions, Maddison Blows received a trophy for her tap solo, while Jessica Maskell and Megan Bembridge were handed the Adjudicator’s Choice award for their lyrical duet. The Stage Right team also won trophies for the highest scoring junior and senior modern troupes.

Kerry Hay, principal of the school, said: “I could not be more proud of our school, not only for the outstanding results and the fact that our students ‘stood out’, but for the amount of team spirit they all showed and the amazing friendships that were made.”

The dancers are currently working towards a performance of The Jungle Book Junior, and are planning a musical theatre showcase.
