Dancers from Royston have been strutting their stuff at the RAF Museum.

The group from GSTARS School of Dance were invited to the museum in North London to perform Transfiguration of Souls, a piece based on the events of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York in 2001.

The school’s principal, Georgina Wootten, put together the piece as part of her studies for a level 6 diploma in dance pedagogy with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.

She said: “A lot of the students were too young to even know about the tragedies that occurred that day so there was a long time explaining the events and stories that unfolded.

“The GSTARS students had a tour of the museum and were able to perform the choreography in two locations within the museum, one in front of a burnt out plane which was very poignant for the subject matter.”
