A Royston crafter said she was overjoyed that her new shop was ‘packed to the rafters’ with eager customers on its first day.

No.3 Royston, in Melbourn Street, opened its doors to the public on Saturday, and owner Laura Whitford was delighted with the turnout.

She said: “I can’t believe how many people came in to support us - I lost count. Most of the crafters had sales which is just fantastic.”

The launch night, last Tuesday, was well attended, with about 60 people turning up to send on their well wishes and have a nosey around the brand new shop.

Laura, who organises the craft fair every month in Royston Town Hall, has taken on a temporary lease until December, but will renew her contract if enough people shop there. No.3 is supporting the Nicola Emmerson Trust, which raises funds for research into sudden cardiac death and the Hedgehog Hospital at Shepreth.
