Schoolchildren visited Belgium in a trip to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the start of WWI.
Nearly 60 students from the Meridian Secondary School, in Royston, visted historical landmarks in the area such as the Tyne Cot cemetary - a burial plot for over 8,000 British soldiers.
They also visited the grave of Harold Ackroyd, a recipient of the Victoria Cross, who lived in Royston and died on the Ypres battlefield in 1917.
The trip was organised by the school’s head of performing arts Jenny Warburton and history teacher David Mitchell.
