A Royston-based charity is calling on the public to help raise funds to rebuild an orphanage damaged in the devastating Nepalese earthquakes last year.
UNCLE has been supporting the upkeep of the orphanage for eight years, and now faces a rebuilding cost of £50,000.
However, another small charity that doesn’t wish to be named has agreed to match fund, pound for pound, any donation received until the end of May.
This means that for every £10 donated with Gift Aid, the charity will receive £22.50.
UNCLE has launched an Orphanage Rebuilding Appeal for funds and is being supported by Royston Methodist Church.
So that the work can be started before the monsoon rain comes in June, the charity has already sent £6,500 to begin the foundations, so it is committed to continue.
Anyone who wishes to make a donation is invited to visit www.justgiving.com/uncle.
