Model railway enthusiasts flocked to Bassingbourn Village College at the weekend for the Royston and District Model Railway Club’s biggest ever exhibition.
The 30th anniversary event saw more than 800 people go along to check out the 29 intricately-built layouts inside nine classrooms, and the hall with an outside running track laid on by the Royston and District Model Engineering Society – making a total number of exhibits rather fitting for the occasion.
This was much to the delight of exhibition manager Reg Hounsell.
“It was our biggest event to date,” he said. “We had everyone who booked to show their models turn up, and we were all set at the start time which was a challenge as we had lots of layouts to get in, including two which were 25 and 30 foot long.”
“I want to thank everyone who came along, the Model Engineering Society and the staff at Bassingbourn Village College.”
The model railway club meet every Friday upstairs in the Town House in Church End, Barley from 8.00pm to 10.30pm, and always welcome new members. Go to www.roystondmrc.co.uk or call 01763 271031 for more information.
