Students taking part in evening enrichment activities at Melbourn Village College have been getting home with the help of community transport scheme.

The team at Royston and District Community Transport have been ensuring that the 350 students, who may miss the last bus home on some or all days, arrive back safely.

“After driving children about for a few years, I can safely say that MVC children must be the best I have driven for manners and politeness,” said driver Martin Smith.

Colleague Stephen Hipkin said: “Perhaps they are too exhausted by their sporting, dramatic and musical activities to even think about getting rowdy. They are a delightful bunch and, realising that I am in total control of the power-operated door, they always thank me before they get off!”

And fellow driver Brian Johnson added: “They are a pleasure to drive.”
