Royston & District Community Transport has a brand new, purpose built minibus, paid for by the Government’s Community Transport Minibus Fund.
Equipped with a low floor and wheelchair access, the sixteen-seat vehicle is RDCT’s second minibus to be painted in bright orange.
Scheme manager David Wherrell said: “We were asked to apply for one of the minibuses from the Government fund and were delighted to be told we had been successful.
“The bus was made to our specification and is ideal for a Dial-a-Ride service, which we plan to provide for the parts of Royston and surrounding villages which are losing their subsidised commercial bus service.”
RDCT operates two further minibuses, both wheelchair-accessible, for hire by groups and societies for health-related and social purposes. Volunteer drivers also drive passengers in their own cars.
