JIM Rodford, once of the chart-topping band The Kinks, will be a special guest at the Big Village Gig in Bassingbourn on Saturday.
The bass player, who is now 65, and who has family in the village, joined the Kinks in 1977, and will make a return visit with his band, The Rodford Files, in the vicarage garden from 6pm.
The gig will open with a performance by Section 17, a jazz band, whose members include the Rev Donald McFadyen and psychiatrists from Kneesworth House.
Jude Simpson, a comic poet and writer, will also be performing.
Proceeds from the event will be donated towards the church roof appeal.
So far, £30,000 has been raised.
