A MASSIVE road and pavement maintenance programme is under way.
And the schemes earmarked under the Highways Extra project from Herts County Council will include repair work in Royston.
Re-surfacing work will be carried out in Royston on Orchard Road, Hollies Close, Hunters Way and Kingsway.
The 40 projects include, too, road works on Elbrook Lane, Ashwell; Barkway Road, Barkway; Heath Road, Therfield; Slip End Road, Ashwell; Ashwell Road/Newnham Way, Ashwell and Station Road, Ashwell.
Cllr Stuart Pile, executive member for highways and transportation, said the "overwhelming" demand from residents had been to improve roads and pavements.
"We have made this extra investment for the second year running in direct response to what the public has told us."
