TWO women are in a critical condition after a road accident on the A505 near Royston today.
The road was closed for five-and-a-half hours and not reopened until 2pm.
Emergency services including the East Anglian Air Ambulance were called near to the scene at the junction of Newmarket Road and the A505 just before 8.30am.
A woman driving a Peugeot 206 drove westbound on the eastbound carriageway of the A505 and collided with a lorry and a Citreon Sinergy also driven by a woman.
The women suffered serious injuries and are in a critical condition at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
The lorry driver escaped unhurt.
