A FARMER from Buntingford who has been accused of creating noise pollution on his privately owned land will seek planning permission for a bike track. Warren Scott, of Owles Farm, on the A10 between Buntingford and Westmill, has been using the three-acre piece of land for the riding of moto-cross bikes. But for the past two weeks concern has been growing over the bike track. Mr Scott said: "We have been using the land for the past four years and no-one has complained before. "But people have obviously seen that I have taken away a top layer of soil on the site to ride my bike on and now it looks like a track. But I did it because the ground was so wet. "People didn't seem to worry when I rode my bike on the land before." He continued: "I understand people are concerned, but we only use it once a month and we can assure them that we are not going to go down there any more than we have in the past. "It was never meant to offend anyone. It was only supposed to be a bit of fun for my family and friends, and not intended for any commercial use," he said. Last week, Mr Scott also built the earth up around the field to stop people entering the site. "Unauthorised people were starting to tear the ground up and make a bog," he said. An East Herts District Council spokesman said: "We are aware some work has been started on the land, but the farmer was unaware he had to make a planning application.
