THE results of a poll carried out by East Herts District Council show that 53 per cent of people living in Buntingford are satisfied with the council. The results were revealed at Buntingford's Community Voice meeting on Monday after 854 residents were asked how they rate the council and what they think could be improved. Some 33 of the 854 interviews were carried out in Buntingford and 120 were carried out in rural areas. And although Buntingford is too small for some statistical conclusions, Cigdem Penn, of MORI, said the results did show that Buntingford is slightly more satisfied with parking enforcements in comparison with other areas. However, Cllr Sanjit Basra said: "The High Street is in chaos. I'm surprised no one has got injured yet and I can't understand where MORI got the figure from. "Some people even park on the zebra crossings day in day out and I saw the police go by not taking any notice. "But the police say it's the council's responsibility and vice versa." An East Herts Council spokesman said the matter will be raised with parking officers. MORI concluded that residents now feel more informed and feel better treated than previously, but residents priorities are refuse collection and recycling facilities.
